Intro Scuba Diving in Cairns: Our Gateway to the Underwater World
Cairns, located in the tropical paradise of Far North Queensland, Australia, is a world-renowned destination for diving enthusiasts. One of the best places to experience the magic of the Great Barrier Reef is on Frankland Islands. This lush, picturesque island is not only a paradise for nature lovers, but it’s also an excellent location for an introduction into scuba diving. In this comprehensive article, we’ll take you on a journey to discover the beauty of Frankland Islands and the thrill of intro scuba diving in this stunning location.
Intro scuba diving, also known as an introductory dive or a resort dive, is a perfect way for beginners to experience the underwater world. It allows you to explore the wonders of the ocean with the guidance of a certified scuba instructor, even if you have no prior diving experience.
Why choose Frankland Islands for your introductory scuba dive?
There are many reasons why Frankland Island is a great choice for an introductory scuba dive. Firstly, the waters surrounding the island are typically calm and clear, making it ideal for beginners. Secondly, Frankland Islands is home to an abundance of unique marine life, so you are sure to see some amazing creatures on your dive. Some of the common marine life you may encounter include clownfish, green sea turtles, parrotfish, surgeonfish, and giant clams.
Third, Frankland Islands Reef Cruises operates the introductory dive experience in small groups of two guests per dive group with our dedicated dive instructor, meaning you will get focused and personal guidance during your dive. Finally, an intro dive on Frankland Islands is the perfect option for those who want to experience scuba diving but are not comfortable travelling to the outer Great Barrier Reef – like for those who suffer from sea sickness. The short open water crossing to Normanby Island means you arrive feeling fresh and ready for your dive.
Here’s what you can expect on your intro diving at Frankland Islands
Upon boarding the Turtle Islander, you will be met by your dive instructor who will provide you with a safety briefing and demonstrate the basic theory of scuba diving. Once you are comfortable with the equipment and procedures, you will be sorted into your dive group. Depending on what activities you would like to partake in while on Normanby Island (e.g. the guided island walk, adventure snorkel safari etc) your dive instructor will sort you into one of three dive groups, with intro dive times throughout the day.
Once your dive group is ready to go, your instructor will help you to gear up and enter the water. During your introductory dive, you’ll descend up to 12m (40 feet) below the surface, and you will be able to explore the reef and all its amazing inhabitants, including colourful fish, coral formations, and marine turtles. At Frankland Islands Reef Cruises, we pride ourselves on not only providing an exceptional diving experience but also prioritizing your safety and well-being. Frankland Islands Reef Cruises is a PADI 5-Star Dive Centre, and we are committed to ensuring that every dive is a memorable and safe adventure.
